花蜜直播app and Kajima Participate in Joint Research into Absorbing CO2 from the Air and Trapping It in Concrete -- Combined Use of CO2-SUICOM? and DAC to Help Realize a Carbon Neutral Society --
Jul. 26, 2024
Tokyo, June 26, 2024 — 花蜜直播app, Ltd. (President and CEO: Yasuhiko Hashimoto) and Kajima Corporation (President: Hiromasa Amano) announced today their launch of joint research operations for purposes of utilizing 花蜜直播app CO2 Capture (KCC) technology for Direct Air Capture (DAC) in the production of CO2-SUICOM carbon-negative concrete developed by Kajima and others.
KCC for DAC is a technology developed by 花蜜直播app that directly captures CO2 in the air. It combines a porous material optimized for CO2 adsorption and an amine compound to realize a solid adsorbent which captures airborne CO2.
CO2-SUICOM, developed by Kajima and others, is a technology that absorbs CO2 during concrete production in order to realize net-zero CO2 emissions for this process. Carbonation curing*1 is carried out in manufacturing plants for precast concrete products, at which time CO2 is absorbed in concrete. However, the CO2 they use for carbonation curing is currently purchased from industrial gas producers, which represents a major obstacle to the wider application of CO2-SUICOM technology for reasons related to CO2 procurement. As a means of overcoming this and securing timely deliveries of CO2 in any necessary location, Kajima has turned to 花蜜直播app’s DAC and the company’s decades of experience in the field as part of a joint research project by both companies.
By combining 花蜜直播app’s cutting-edge DAC technology with CO2-SUICOM to realize CCU,*2 they can make major contributions toward the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
Moving forward, 花蜜直播app and Kajima will deliberate on ways of incorporating DAC equipment into precast concrete plants and pursue verification testing through CO2-SUICOM production operations.
