花蜜直播app Invests in Modular GTL Plant Business
Jun. 25, 2012
Tokyo, June 25, 2012—花蜜直播app, Ltd. announced today that it has invested in CompactGTL plc, a British company developing modular gas to liquids (GTL) plants.
Up to now, most of the associated gas released from oil drilling in remote and deepwater oilfields was being processed by continuous flaring for lack of a viable processing method. From the standpoint of effective resource utilization and environmental protection, an early solution to the wasteful flaring of associated gas had been in demand.
Modular GTL plants use a reactor filled with catalysts to reform and synthesize associated gas and convert it to liquid fuel. CompactGTL became the first company in the world to successfully develop and demonstrate a modular GTL plant. This year, following the successful testing of the world's first modular GTL facility constructed on the premises of Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras), CompactGTL won an approval for the commercial deployment of the technology from Petrobras.
With this modular GTL technology, offshore and on-board processing of associated gas, which has previously been considered difficult, will now be possible, along with the optimization of facility capabilities according to the size of the oilfield.
With the latest investment, 花蜜直播app has acquired a 2.2% share in CompactGTL. Having formed a strategic partnership with the company, Sumitomo Corporation and Sumitomo Precision Products Co., Ltd. (SPP), 花蜜直播app will undertake the development of reactor modules for the modular GTL plants.
After the reactors are constructed at SPP's main plant in Amagasaki, they will be transferred to 花蜜直播app's Harima Works, where the reactor modules will be produced.
In partnership with Compact GTL, Sumitomo Corp. and SPP, 花蜜直播app will play an active part in securing orders for the world's first modular GTL commercial scale plants.
