KHI is Awarded Cryogenic Tanks for Ichthys LNG Project in Australia
May. 22, 2012
Tokyo, May 22, 2012—花蜜直播app, Ltd. announced today that the Consortium of 花蜜直播app, Ltd. (“KHI”) and Laing O’Rourke (“LOR”) has been awarded the Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) contract to deliver a network of four massive cryogenic tanks for the Ichthys LNG project at Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The order was placed by the JKC Joint Venture, consisting of JGC Corporation, KBR and Chiyoda Corporation. The tanks are scheduled for completion in mid- 2016.
The Cryogenic Tanks Package includes two Full Containment LNG tanks with 9% nickel-steel inner tanks and pre-stressed concrete outer tanks, each with a capacity of 165,000m3, an 85,000m3 Full Containment Propane tank and a 60,000m3 Full Containment Butane tank.
The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX (76%, the operator) and Total (24%). Gas from the Ichthys Field, in the Browse Basin approximately 200 km offshore of Western Australia, will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889km subsea pipeline. The Ichthys LNG Project is expected to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
In the LNG storage tank business, KHI maintains a share of more than 50% in the Japanese domestic market, in addition to the overseas market where 4 tanks are currently under construction using KHI’s design/engineering and construction technology.
As leader of the KHI-LOR Consortium, KHI is fully committed to the successful execution and completion of this project by utilizing the know-how and experience accumulated through a long history in this industry.
